WAVE DANCER is a 30 foot cat rigged monohull sailboat known as a Nonsuch 30. Her home port is Gloucester MA, but she will spend a good deal of time sailing out of Rockport MA in good weather, doing day trips for up to 6 guests. It is hard to appreciate how spacious she is from this photo. She is actually a very comfortable and stable cruising sailboat with a large cockpit, wide decks and plenty of room below. She is well equipped for coastal cruising, carrying radar, global positioning, VHF radios and other safety equipment. For music lovers, there is a great sound system (bring your CDs or MP3 player, or let me be your DJ). Sailing options out of Rockport range from a one hour cruise to an all day excursion with destinations like Crane Beach (with the right tide, anchoring off the beach and taking the dinghy to shore is possible). On a typical trip, I will meet you at the docks in Rockport (Old Harbor) and take you by dinghy on a short ride to the anchored boat. After a briefing, we will haul up the anchor and head out into Sandy Bay under diesel power. As soon as possible, we will raise the sail and find the best course for the conditions. Guests may enjoy leaving the cockpit to sit on the cabin top or deck. Those who might enjoy taking the wheel are encouraged to do so. Typically it is cooler out on the water than on land, so it is advisable to plan to dress accordingly. This is especially true on sunset sails, which are especially popular. Weather is always a big factor in sailing, but it is possible to be comfortable on WAVE DANCER in marginal conditions because of her well protected cockpit and overall stability. Seasickness is a worry for some, but most of the time I am able to find protection from the seas by staying in Sandy Bay when it is a bit rough farther out. First time sailors are encouraged.
